I'm not gonna get all deep or anything. My friday afternoon was getting a bit dull so i jumped on the google api bandwagon and came up with this little piece.
The All New Twelvestone Interactive World Map
It's rough and you can't delete if you mess up. But go ahead and add away.
By the way, this shit is easy, i was very impressed.
Done -- nice job!
I think Maporama or whatever is giving the Lat/Long in the opposite sequence than your asking for, because I found mine, put it in and it came up in like turkey.
I don't live in turkey.
Mine worked OK. Are you sure you don't live in Turkey?
Ive been playing around with it for a few weeks - Im going to break up with my lady and marry Google instead.
Mine came up OK. well, close enough, it's got me living somewhere in the US i think my latitude is off a bit there.
.
Maybe you live in Colorado, Turkey?
I'm off by about twenty yards, but I'm in there.

i got that too
nice work!
great work mang!
:grumpy:
Yeah, I came up in the middle of the medeterranian sea, just off the coast of Syria.
So either I cut'n'pasted the lat and long wrong, or I am an aquatic terrist and didn't even know it.

did you perhaps forget a negative sign?
uh oh, i ended up in mongolia
yeah, you guys are doing something wrong...make sure you use the decimal version of your lat long and dont forget neg signs and shit
I'm gonna delete those odd ones so you guys can try again, i guess you're missing something.
Stmoo, possak - apparantly you guys suck at the interent and are using IE, and this is a known bug. I'm just looking in to it.

Like So:
Lat: 35° 9' , -101° 53' Long: 35.166 , -101.886
From here.
It is still possible that format came accross wrong or I missed a tick mark or something.

No tie, that lat, long on top and bottom. yours would be
LAT = 35.166 LONG = -101.886
I think i see what you're doing. Maporama gives you 4 numbers in the bottom left, you want the bottom 2, not the left 2 - if that helps.
edit: nevermind, just saw your posts
ooops . . . I screwed up and accidently ended up in Egypt :-/
I keep seeing people in the mid-east and getting excited. "Really! Stevo lives in Houston, Texas, Egypt? Crazy!"
Ah, I geddit. I just re-added mine correctly, thanks.
In my defense, I got lost in a truck stop once.
Ok, should work in IE now.
that's fantastic shex!!!
in retrospect I feel a bit paranoid about nailing cordinates that are pretty much on my home, but I've done far stupider things so :ooh:
I haven't actually kept up with all the kewl d00d stuff peeps is doing with googles offerings... so at the risk of sounding n00bish, I'm really impressed!!!
can you use this commercially? like, say a company with multiple outlets in europe wants to make a similar map, can you make an app like that and sell it to them or will google get pissed and sue your ass?
It's still in beta (of course). This is what they say:
The Maps API is a free beta service, available for any web site that is free to consumers. Google retains the right to put advertising on the map in the future. Please see the terms of use for more information.
