Hi guys, I've got a client that wants a full backup of their website every day. Is this something that hosting providers do or something I need to look into? Thanks k

Um ... to what end? Are the worried about losing data? Or do they want to be able to restore yesterday's site, if need be?

For example, MediaTemple (my host) has tools for backup if I want to manually back up my stuff. But things are stored on multiple redundant drives so the chances of losing anything is fairly remote.

I think to restore yesterdays site if need be, so it needs to be an automated process with it being every day.

That's something your hosts should be able to provide. Make sure you get both files and database backed up!

If you run the server, Comodo Backuphttp://backup.comodo.com/ is free and easy to use, and can be set to backup to date-labelled ZIP files. Throw in a scheduled SQL backup, and set Comodo to copy the backup file to the backup disk.. and you are safe.

Cheers scuduscker and MC. Anyone know any web hosts that provide daily backups?

Most host will keep backups, but not for more than a week, so if you're looking for something longer than that you'll have to do it yourself.

Use RSync to S3. You can even do incremental as well as atomic.

Cheers!

As I will be using managed web hosting I really need a UK hosting provider that can do this but have no idea who to go for?
