Anyone with kids seen this?

It's being screened in English at a cinema not to far from us and was thinking I might take the Techlings along - aged 6 & 5.

Is there anything particularly unsuitable for kids that age - we're pretty relaxed about most things - it's more stuff that might give nightmares that might be a concern.

Incidentally, the movie was pretty awesome. I have been a big fan of the books for most of my life, but not the previous adaptations. I haven't seen a better use of 3D - both graphics and anaglyphic wise. There is a chase scene which is just wicked fun. If you have the option, see it in 3D.

That is a useful link. Tayla does get scared at the movies pretty easily so I have to be very careful what she watches or it is just a waste of money and we have to walk out. She loved Cars 2 but was scared stiff of the The Princess and the Frog!

I really enjoyed the Nelvana 2D for-TV adaptations, I found it to be approaching perfection - you didn't?

I was at the avant-premiere in Brussels and i honestly didn't like the movie that much.

I mean the movie was great and all but we had a Tintin cartoon which looked more like the real one like in the comics. The movie one was totally different since it was in 3D and such and i was kinda disappointed. Like indiana jones 4 disappointed k

But it's great if you haven't seen the cartoons i guess, nothing too violent, a drunk captain and the occasional gun shooting and fight.

I think we had the same cartoon.

Indeed, that cartoon. I liked it, normally they were gonna do a movie from that one also. It never happened though

I don't remember hating it, but I do remember it being a little slow. I'll give them another watch.

I saw it with our two, and there was nothing that gave them any worries -- although they are a bit older than yours (9 and 7, but Ben is generally quite sensitive). I thought it was visually amazing, by far the most impressive use of CGI I've seen. Plot-wise a bit hit-and-miss but the kids really enjoyed it.

The opportunity passed us by - my truck broke down, so I couldn't take the kids to see it (it was only for one night - which is normal out here in darkest Francolandia).

We'll just have to wait for it to hit the tv schedules.
