Launched! http://www.xdude.com/creativenetwork/ (If we can all decide on a separate domain name, I can do that... and/or if this thread could be made sticky??? pls??? thx??? lols???)

First off, thanks to all of you fine folks that were kind enough to enter your details into the original thread.

Second... would you be so kind as to add yourself to the database? I'd do it myself, but have added a "skill level" feature, which many of you didn't indicate in the thread. There were also some names and emails and such missing.

"Real Name" and "Screen Name" are NOT required fields, in case you're all paranoid of prospective clients learning about your barrel exploits.

I'll be making a number of visual improvements over the next week or so, but it all works for now. Feedback/comments welcome.

Nice.

IMO, The term Developer is a bit misleading, given some of the skill sets that will be represented. But I don't have a better suggestion at the mo.

Will entries be updatable later?

More than one website option?

Wow, cool!

You have a surprisingly good website, given the url is xdude dot com.

Entries can be updated by the admin... I think I'd rather keep it that way than devise a username/password system (which would add yet another screen to the entry process).

More than one website - good feedback, hadn't considered that. You could also enter other sites into the Comments field?

Yup. Thats what I did. This also made me realize that I REALLY need to rebuild my design site. Once I finish the new CSS rebuild of my photosite... (hopefully that will wrap up this weekend).

I'm guessing those of us with less code based skills dont have much to offer.

ok I gave it up. You should get an email from moi.

Maybe you could prompt us a bit here though later on to help provide better "comments" that you can use. I think an open box to present "hey I love designing with flowers" could be better fit if you had a sort of template in mind such as: Worked in large agency in NY. Nailed XDud's sister. etc.

but I guess I have nothing to offer..... :(

"Nailed XDud's sister" is a given. Beyond that, maybe some scientific classifications (i.e. "vertebrate" "invertebrate," etc.) would make sense.

What details are available to who and when? That is, is any of the info private vs. public?

Guess I'm just trying to figure out who will be seeing my email addy, and when.

I would add some fields to it like (description)

  • Study
  • Experience
  • Motivation
  • Company

And in the search i would add:

  • Services

Originally posted by: mclarkson What details are available to who and when? That is, is any of the info private vs. public? All public. Your email will only be seen by people searching for the skills you have ... if that scares you, I guess you gots prollems. k

  • Motivation
  • Company

And in the search i would add:

  • Services Study and Experience go in the "Qualifications/Experience" field. Motivation and Company basically filter into "I have a full time job" or "I am a freelancer."

What kind of Services were you thinking of that don't break into the Languages, Skills or Programs listed?

A few that come to mind are: Project management Brand management Press/Print coordination Client facing? (for lack of the right term... some people just don't have that skill/experience) bi/multi lingual

surely a simple user generated tag system would work a lot better?

Splitting the emails (name AT domain DOT com), so that it's not listed in it's entirety?

shouldn't it display results by relevance - i.e. show designers who have all the skills sought before showing results that have any of the skills sought?

If I search for A + B + C, shouldn't I see hits with all of those skills at the top of the list? What I get now is:

Jim - B Jon - B Jane - B Jason - A Jacob - A+B Jennifer - A+B+C

I'd want to see Jennifer first, since she's the only one who actually has all the skills I'm searching for.
