Hey, peoples!

Short version: I want to build a list of fabulous fine 12Sers that I (and other 12Sers) can outsource portions of projects to.

Full version: I've got too much work for one guy, but not quite enough for two. I came to the conclusion this weekend that running a business from the mindset of "not enough resources" (time, staff, etc.) doesn't exactly work.

What I need is a regular network of people I can go to whenever I need to take on a project and my schedule is full, or I don't know how to accomplish a certain task.

What I've done in the past is just created a "WHO WANTS MONEY?" thread and outright given that project away. However, some of them are complicated and I think would be handled much more effectively with the right team.

This has worked very well in the past: http://www.davidrussomusic.com/ -- arigato's design http://www.millionair.com/ -- Hideaway's ASPX, SQL, etc.

Upcoming/current projects I need help with: http://www.marshallamps.com/ http://www.eveldick.com/ http://www.hqindustries.ca/ http://www.envyclothingonline.com/ shopping cart http://www.egps.net/ redesign http://www.tcamembers.com/ redesign http://www.millionair.com/ page-flipping/zooming app

With that, this isn't just for my needs, it's for everybody. And, if this thread could be made into a sticky, I think it'd be an excellent resource.

I know almost everybody here has an interweb skill of some kind, from the fancy to the mundane, and I know everybody likes getting extra money.

So anyway, reply to this thread -- don't send PMs or emails, this is for the benefit of the many -- and supply your name, skill set, and a way to contact you.

FANKU!

Ace idea, x. But pms and emails work because aside from contracts, most professionals would rather keep communications about clients/work off the record,no?

yeah, I'm assuming he just wants us to publish our skills, expertise and background and he can at least hit this thread with a project, then interested parties can just use a pm with him, eh?? no/????

but great idea x~!~ I know some very talented 12S'rs have hit hard times with employment and such, this is a great way to spread the work with some friendly folks!

Fair enough. I don't trust any of my dev skills anymore to be able to produce quality work, though I'm still able to speak the language. I'll be keeping an eye on this thread.

You've got 7 contracts on the go but no funds to hire full time help? What the fuck are you charging? $50 a site?

Sorry, couldnt resist. You knew I'd do it.

Ok, I'll leave you alone now. xxxx

The entrepreneurial gene my father had in absolute abundance apparently abandoned my brother, who clearly needs it the most. k :P

here's my quick summary x for you....

designer and audio/video producer/editor - I am completely front end design and development. Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash, HTML, etc.

don't do databases

consume and parse XML web services in Flash on a daily basis.

I'd be interested in helping you out on the redesigns or the Marshall Amps one if you need editing or a player built (but I think you have your own). Also, I do have a company in Soviet Canuckistan so money between us is simple.

But I would add, I'm fully employed so DEFINITELY USE the guys who may have lost some projects and the cash would help them. I really like your idea though. Good luck with it.

Oh, and charge more you cheap bastard!!

Rails, JQuery, HTML/CSS (ie, cutting up designs and turning them into code pretty quickly).

Can only do 10-15 hrs per week, but I am looking for some side work.

illustrator (wide variety of styles) web designer (including frontend coding) graphic designer for print (layout, photo retouching/ pre-production, etc.) basic flash skills (as2)

HOWEVER I am employed full time so have limited time/ responsiveness, & will definitely give preference to illustration/ web graphics gigs.

contact info is under my sig.

Hey look, useful interested replies! Thanks, guys!

I would like to be clear that this thread is not entirely about interweb dev guys ... I mean, all skills will eventually end up on a website of some kind, but if someone's up for mundane data entry or knows how to edit photos, that's handy.

Bobby was correct, this thread is entirely about building a directory. In fact, if I were a mod I might even delete some of the non-useful replies. :P

Go ahead and risk, Speccy, put yourself out there and tell us what you can do k

wingy - do you have actual "employees" or just partners? I kinda want to hire an actual person at some point this year, but good help is so hard to find.

p.s. this thread has nothing to do with "what I charge" ... though yes, if I'm outsourcing, the client would end up getting billed more.

I wonder if there'd be a way to link to that permanently from this site, to keep it fresh, updated and regularly visited.
