I didn't go last year, but it is official this year.
I'll be conducting training at a facility there the week of April 2-5. probably going to extend my stay through the weekend and see what's what. I'll have evenings available too.
It looks like it's located in the middle of Not Much, but it might be the only chance I ever get to meet you UKers. Let's get something together if possible!
It looks like it is not too far from Liverpool, I would like to go the Cavern Club just to say I've been there. Or not? What else?
Like I said in my message mate, we will see what we can do. Would be a good opportunity to get a few people together.
Justin and I would be up for an overnight stay in Liverpool
Adults only this time? Sounds like a plan....
I might be around but not sure at the mo... Currently planning a trip home around that time.
FWIW Manchester shits on Liverpool in every conceivable way. And I'm not saying that just to make it more convenient for me :-)

Yeah I was thinking of asking my Mum to have the kids overnight.

Ask her if she'll have ours. :o)
More details:
Looks like I will be staying in a little town called Ironbridge. I may or may not have a car depending on how adventurous I feel, i am concerned about killing myself or others by driving on the wrong side of the road.
Looks like I'll be coming in the weekend before to do some stuff, since the weekend after is Easter. I'll probably leave Saturday the 7th.
Love to, but chances of me making it up that far are pretty much zero. Come to Devon! It's much less...north.
Just saying the word "Shropshire" in my head gives me mush mouth.

This best happen cause I was pregnant last time and I want a proper drink with you lot this time round!
How does a tentative Saturday, March 31st sound for Liverpool? I know this is nerdy/touristy, but I really want to go to "Saturday with The Beatles" at the Cavern Club that night.
Sounds good to me
I am pretty sure I can do that day as well.
Do you need to book spots at the club, or does it not get that busy?
I'll speak to the missus about this date as she is the social coordinator for our house.
You are asking the wrong person. But it looks like you can get tickets way in advance.
Ok, Vicki is going to research some places for us to stay. So far me, Vicki, Suzy and Justin are confirmed.
Who else is attending?
Will post the details of the accommodation here when it's confirmed.
Will look up the Cavern Club thing as well.

Let me double check with the little lady before I say for sure.
If I do come down, I probably won't stay overnight anyway, I'll just take the last train back to Manchester.
Ok, this is the Cavern Club info : http://www.cavernclub.org/whats-on/event/2583
£12 per ticket and they should be pre-booked. Good thing is that you can pre-book your ticket and not worry about seating as seats are not allocated.
The 'show' is obviously not in the main club - it's in the newer part of the venue, so you can rock up t the club early and then head through to the hall when the doors open at 9pm.
Would people prefer to book their own tickets, rather than one person forking out for the lot and having to recover the cash via bailiffs or something.
Thoughts?
I've checked with my wife (aka the human schedule) and we are away that weekend :(
And for this reason, I'm out.
Sorry folks, I'm sure you'll manage to have fun (somehow) without me.
You know the Cavern Club that is there now is not the Cavern Club that the Beatles played, right?

Not completely. no - I thought the old part was still there, but they had developed and extended over the years. Have I got that all wrong?
The club closed in March 1973, and was filled in during construction work on the Merseyrail underground rail loop.
In April 1984 the club was taken over by Liverpool F.C. player Tommy Smith in association with Royal Life. Occupying almost 50% of the original site, it was re-built with many of the same bricks that had been used in the original club.[1] The new design was to resemble the original as closely as possible.
It's partly on the original site, and the refurbishment used some of the original club materials.
In other words, it's not the Cavern Club my mum and dad went to, it's a tourist joint that bears the name of the original club.
I wouldn't go there if you were paying me in.....but there's plenty of life round there worth visiting.
