I am looking for some software that converts flash to video, supports alpha transparency and can handle AS3.

In the past, I have used these guys: SWF TO VIDEO

However, all the actionscript has to be in the _root movie, and it only handles AS1. There must be something out there for AS3?

It should compile to a .MOV from the IDE just fine.

I have Macromedia studio 8... are you saying I can use Flash 8 to create a .mov? with actionscript? with alpha transparency?

Not with Flash 8. You need CS3 or higher for full AS and transparency export into a .MOV.
