I'm only L5, and I'm looking at this is more of a test-character than anything else.
I made one of those cat-people, and I'm going 1h + destruction. I've just hit the Greybeard area, but I saved & logged in order to get on the road for Turkey Day.
The food thing is handy at times, but most of it is worthless IMO when you can have pots.
I am scrounging and scavenging everything. I found a staff last night that's worth some 3500-3700 gold and I'm as pleased as punch. I kinda want to buy a house in Whiterun but I'm unsure if that's a good idea or not.

Where the hell did you manage to find a staff worth that much?
L3 Argonian Picked it because of the underwater capabilities and quick health generation.
Haven't played much though, more running around the area.
Have found this nice thing where you throw a basket/crate over someones head so they can't see what your doing and steal everything
I'm at level 7 as an Orc. I'm doing two-hand with emphasis on enchanting and balanced magic. Sorta trying to do it like a WoW Shaman.
I did a cat person for like twenty minutes until I saw the tail. Wasn't a fan of the tail.
Oh and I was doing the cat person as an archer until I saw the mechanics of the archery. Also not a fan. Could be a PS3 thing but I feel like it should at least give some sort of sight change on the archery.
L16 Nord.
I started out as leaning toward destro mage, and tackled the mage college questline way up in the north, becoming archmage with my own nice appartment with garden at the school. However I had so much fun with archery while doing all that, that I turned my back to flames and shocks and became a sneaking bowsniper. Making long range headshots is great.
Currently doing the Dark Brotherhood questline, where you become and assassin - most fun I had so far.
Haven't really progressed on the main questline yet, stopped after meeting the monks at the mountain peak.
/edit M44, with perks you gain zoom sight and time slowdown with bows.

While on the way to visit the Greybeards, I went up a random path in the mountains and found a cave that was some sort of witch den. The staff was just sitting in a box along with a couple of other items in the first wide area of the cave. What I recall about the entrance was that it had the same sort of downward slope look that the very first dungeon had. There was also a dryad-thingy stuck in a cage that I released.
I know about where it is, and what it was called, so I'll get that info for you on Sunday. After I sell that staff and the shit I have right now, I figure to be sitting on about 6k gold @ L5, and I already have teh_horse.

I play in first person so the tail isn't an issue for me. I wanted the cat bonus and I could not be arsed to play a human/elf/orc etc as I have about 13 of those in WoW.
The archery is awesome once you get the perks. My buddy went that route and it rocks.
PS, when I went back to Whiterun and that one fellow is like "I don't see any proof of the dragonborn stuff" or whatever, I hit him with the force-word (LAWL) and had to GTFO. Fuck that guy. I did reload my game though, because I wanted to be on good terms there.
Have any of you turkey's bought a house? And if so, where?
The one at whiterun, but I'm shopping for a bigger one, haven't decided yet. I need moar bookshelves !

hmm maybe next time I'll do an archer than although if I play again I'd also like to see what happens if I just run around trying to kill everyone as a vampire

FJ - there isn't enough money or rationality in the world to justify going to a big box store on black friday.
p.s. I've got Lydia waiting outside the Greybeard place and am now scurrying off to try and find this staff. So far all I've found was a glitch that made me reload to get out of.
Lvl 47 khajiit thief / assassin. WARNING: Some possible spoilers below.
Fun tip for $, find a weapon with a banish enchant on it, disenchant it and then enchant all the iron daggers you make to level smithing with it using petty and lesser soul stones. Turns a 50G item into a 500-1000G item (depending on your speech skill). The problem you'll end up having is that there won't be enough gold on the merchants.
Fun tip #2, during the dark brotherhood quest line you can steal a Blade of Woe from Astrid before the one you get as loot. Doing so allows you to dual wield them.
Fun tip #3, with the right perks and gear one can be doing 60X backstab damage. Sneak Perk: Assassin's Blade, One Handed Skill: Critical Charge, Dark Brotherhood Gloves: 2x backstab damage. I dont yet have the skill points in the critical charge to verify but I've seen it reported. I myself do 30x damage constantly. One shotted Krosis for example.

I bought the house in whiterun. Worth it to store those heavy dragon bones/scales. Plus it's good to have the well rested bonus.
If I see a dragon outside of the Ustengrav burial area, does that mean I need to level more before I proceed?

I'm pretty sure in regards to the staff that o/r found might be somewhat random. My roommate's girl was playing and I watched her do a crypt and get a staff that did necromancy. I then went and did the same crypt and instead got a staff that makes soul gems... actually I found further in the crypt and wound up getting two staffs.
I'm a little disappointed I didn't realize staffs were one handed weapons, this is really useful for my enchanting but I've already started putting perks into 2H :(
lvl 22 redguard archer/assassin.
Was wandering around recently in a big open area. Waaaaaay off near the horizon, a giant/mammoth encampment. Seems to be a bit of excitement over there.
Suddenly, it starts raining Imperials. Seriously. Like, it would take me two minutes at full run to reach the giants. That's how far they were batting the dudes.
I guess the giants don't like imperials messing with their mammoths. Got some decent loot off the bodies, too.
