I rather enjoyed Little Miss Sunshine and The Fountain.
The new bond is pretty good although a bit long.
saw Children of Men the night it came out. It was very good in my opinion. Only downside was a bit abrupt in the begginging as far as explaining the society we're in. Then the ending I think could've been cut one scene earlier. Don't want to say anymore than that to not spoil it.

I'm going to see the Fountain tomorrow.... saw Good Shepard.. I'd say maybe 1/2 to * out of 5 Little Miss sunshine was awesome **** Saving Grace was pretty fun not a great movie or anything but pretty fun. and of course Pans Labrynth was awesome ! MC did you see that yet?
Sin City was tops. is probably one of my fav movies I reckon.
The Libertine was also a great flick
The Proposition. Nick Cave. Good shit.
Happy Feet
"Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby" made me laugh a lot.
"The Devil Wears Prada" had its moments but the overall heartwarming story of personal discovery was trite.
Babel Children of men
I saw Pirates of the Carribean last night w/ Johnny Depp. I'm a little behind the times.
The last good movie I saw on HBO was The Jacket.
Happy feet sucked royal ass.
Syriana was good - but dont blink or go to pee!
Goal! was alright.
Borat made me soil myself with teh giggles
T3 - sucked ass - glad I waited till it came out on Cable.
McC: if The General youre referring to is the IRA flick then Im with you - that one kicked ass.

The first third was the best Bond I've seen (and I've seen them all
). The middle (at the Casino) was reasonable, but the last third was dull -- the whole romance thing just dragged on. Then suddenly, there's the huge finale (which was just confusing -- who were all those new people?) and then it ends. So -- good then OK then yawn then 'Eh?'.
No mention of Pan's Labyrinth?
Haven't seen it yet, but heard many good things....
I'm pretty hyped to see Curse of the Royal Flower or whatever the hell it's called.
I'm becoming a bigger fan of big-budget hyper-unrealistic flowery martial arts films than I thought I would.
fights for 30 minutes while freefalling with a bamboo stick
if you are down with over the top fight scenes, check out DOA. hot ass girls fighting in the rain in slow-mo? hell yeah! people just start flying around at the end too.
need for speed tokyo drift was some over the top racing shit too. I couldn't stop laughing at how the yakuza is portrayed in that movie. also the plot. the plot is the greatest. young southern boy get in a bunch of trouble with the law after racing, so he gets deported to japan where he meets up with token black guy who sells dvds to school students. the story rivals shakespeare's shit.
Deported to JAPAN?
So, a true story, right?
cfoley, don't think so. It was "The General" silent, with Buster Keaton, set in the American Civil War.
adamordna, I haven't seen it yet. Most of my movies these days are via Netflix and don't tend to be very current.
mowgli,
. Scroll up, dude.
Shuteye, check my movies in the first post, and you'll see I'm behinder the times than you, for the most part. As I said, it's all Netflix and I've got about 180 movies in the queue, which will last me for something like 1.5 years. Even the new flicks will be old by the time I get around to them. I may head out to the theater for Pan's Labyrinth if I get the chance. The last movie I saw in the theater was "Infamous" - the 'other' Capote movie. It was pretty good, but I got free tickets or it would still be languishing at the tail of my Netflix queue.
We Are Marshall

Even better. Keaton rules.
"Little Miss Sunshine" made me laugh, so did "Art School Confidential." LMS is a far better movie, though.
I bought "A Scanner Darkly," but probably liked it less than any Richard Linklater movie I've ever seen, and I'm a big Linklater fan (since "Slacker"). Coincidentally, I watched "School of Rock" again the same day with my kids, and we laughed and giggled and rocked out.
As a family, we also watched "Invincible," which was pretty good, and "Field of Dreams" which I'd never seen before. Slow, but good. The kids also really dug "Air Buddies," but I can't watch a movie about talking dogs without drugs and actually enjoy it myself.
We also all went to the theater to see "Eragon" together, but were horribly disappointed to see how much it sucked ass.
eragon was terrible. little miss sunshine was great, but i really like greg kinnear. a scanner darkly wasn't bad, but not as good as hyped. night at the museum was better than expected. the illusionist had a really cool feel to it lady in the water i liked better before i knew it was m night shamalan, plus paul giamatti was good. invncible was a little slow, but had a good character. american pie - naked mile - lame, aside from alot of boobies. beer league - not bad, better than naked mile renaissance - cool looking style. cross a scanner darkly with sin city and you'll get that look pretty much. school for scoundrels - weak.

I'm looking forward to this movie as well.
For artsy hyper-unrealistic flowery movies, I recommend House of Flying Daggers. Good stuff. So is Jet Li's Fearless, but it's not so flowery.
I recently saw Happy Feet with my niece, enjoyed it, but probably moreso because she was. Enjoyed the first half and then they went all adult on me.
I liked Mission Impossible 3 more than the first two as there wasn't a lot of slow down.
Pirates 2 was good except for the, what I call, "fart jokes" (trying to get laughs from being stupid rather than clever) and the over the top CG for Davy Jones & co.
On tap I have Art School Confidential, Hard Candy and The Descent.

I
that movie! have seen it a zillion times. Had a cat named Archibald Moonlight Graham, or Moonlight, aka Moonie for short
My mom wouldn't let me name the cat Shoeless Joe because her name is Jo
ah yeah i forgot that i saw the illusionist.. i thought it was really good... and yeah if you get a chance to see Pans Labrynth do it... it's not for the faint of heart though
Thank You For Smoking gave me the giggles The Whale and the Squid was ok if a bit boring Happy Endings was funneh Three Burials was entertaining and made me a tad bit nostalgic for South Texas (it passed right away)
- before sunset : great great great, I got all giddy at the "turning point" in the taxi
- kiss kiss, bang bang : pretty fun movie, a bit too self-concious, might bother some people
- mission impossible 3 : solid action movie, despite my annoyance with TC irl
- slither : fun light hearted splatter horror, in the same vain as braindead
- a scanner darkly : expected to love it, but found myself quite bored to my utter dissapointment
- an inconvenient truth : good; bit too much hype for a movie that is basically a recap of things mostly already known
- the woods : nice suspense, but not terribly exciting, was a bit sleepy when I watched it
- world trade center : Could tell it was a solid movie, but I'm quickly annoyed by forced sentimentalism
- clerks 2 : fun movie, didn't like Rosario Dawson before, but do now - the shy kid overacts but still manages to be very funny
- kingdom of heaven dir's cut : Works much better in this longer form - just a solid movie, the guy playing Saladin owns
- miami vice : Vapid story, great bad guys ( the drugbaron is a very young actor to my surprise), pleasantly violent
- saw3 : unpleasantly violent. At least Hostel had something of a story and a guy you could root for.
- the illusionist : good. not remarkable, and parts of the plot weren't terribly surprising, but I really liked the entire package
- eternal sunshine of the spotless mind : going to the science of sleep next week, so watched it with commentary by gondry and charlie kaufman - really recommended, they point out all these little things in the background. Best dvd commentary I've seen yet after alien.
