Just messin around with hexagons...

juxta was that done in Adobe Illustrator? If so can you provide a tutorial.
Which one were you referring to? I'm immersed in the business of giving the business, so I won't have time to write out a full tutorial. But I can provide the AI file if you're interested.
They are all in Illustrator 10 format.
The last one you did with the gray shaded one that looks like it could have been done in Blender3D or a similar 3D app.
I used the new mesh shading tool in Illustrator. It basically breaks the shape into a network of beziers and nodes, which you can then move around and shape/shade to form more dynamic gradients.
can i see the .AI or a website with a guide? thanks

It's in Illustrator 10 format, so to be able to see the mesh shading grid, you'll need to be working in Illustrator 10.
Hi justapixel,
Can I just say great work and thank you for posting the Illustrator file.
I know you are really busy but can I ask a quick question?
I am just starting to draw more complex things in Illustrator and really like what you have done. I understand how the basics of creating mesh objects but I thought you could only fill the different sections with solid colurs and then they blend into the adjoining sections. Also when I apply a mesh with the tool if I already have a gradient on the object it turns it solid. When I click on the sections in your file it does not tell me what they are filled with. Can you give me a hint on how it was done?
Thanks
When I get a chance, I'll post a tutorial in Phantom's thread about how I went about it.
But off hand, are you trying to select the entire sections, or the nodes connecting them. Just like when working with regular vector shapes, you can select lines, nodes (points), and sections. You can then apply whatever shading you want to these.
For the above image, I mostly used the nodes (points) in between the sections to add shading.
Thanks justapixel,
It was that I was selecting the sections rather than the nodes, all has become clear now on how to do it.
Thanks again, I'll have a play now
