Anyone use it? Anyone have invites?
I have an account - I don't use it much, though it has interesting possiblities. Don't know about invites, but will check.
edit: looks like invites a plenty. Sent.
Strange someone just told me about this earlier today. I had never heard of it but as a recent member of Tumblr it seems Pinterest is all the things I dislike about Tumblr and really the changing face of the internet.
Yeah it doesn't take much but a theme and group authoring rights to replicate pinterest in tumblr fairly quick.
Original content is getting ripped off wildly though. Content creators are at the mercy of the users to add a link back to the source. I would bet pinterest's home page itself has more than 30 violations alone, in text, photos, and audio. But under the current law, the same law that protects stinky, quite rightly, pinterest doesn't need to give a shit, because it's the fault of the person who pins or posts an item who is liable. Good luck getting them to remove your photography from their emo tumblr. Tumblr at least has the reblog feature which automatically crumbs the linkback, but I have had my own stuff reblogged manually, losing even the correct title on the image.
In my day, we called these people posers and dickheads. Now it's trendy to be a no-talent ass-clown, cause if you're against copyright theft, you must be for the RIAA, and a draconian asshole.
Thanks RD!
although I'm cursing it because I don't want to "upgrade" to facebook timeline and I don't have a twitter account. dammit.

Well, yes, and no. I've seen my stuff end up on tumblr aggregates like fffound and while I'm dismayed if it's not linkbacked, that's always a risk you run putting things on the internet. I stopped using flickr becasue people were thiefing from me too much (and seem to largely treat it as a free stock site though I and a few people I know have actually had people buy stuff from us through Flickr) but hey, it's a risk you take.
In principle I think aggregates are an excellent idea and I visit a few quite regularly to gain inspiration & keep my thumb on the pulse. Some aggregate editors suck, too, for the reasons you describe... but in the end as long as they're not making money on it, right? I'm sure your experience with SL soured you a fair bit as I know your work was being reproduced without credit all the time. Maybe if I got the kind of exposure you were having for a while there I'd feel differently. Almost certainly, actually.

I can probably send you an invite via email - i don't think it has to be tied to twit/fb.
PM me what email addy you want me to send it to.
I ran into it ages ago and thought "What's the big deal?" But now I'm really getting into it.
I like pinterest as a really organic way of bookmarking things online, as well as finding recipes and DIY tutorials, etc. I can see that there might be a lot of stolen content up their, particularly in the inspirational/humorous graphic + text arena though.

Did you recently take Jesus into your heart?

The problem with Pinterest is that its for Christian girls
No, and those inspirational images about prayer and Jesus make me want to puke. I did find a really good recipe for chicken on there though.
I also hate the really judgmental ones about exercise. I'm not jogging for any reason and if you're gonna act like that makes me a bad person then you can go and fuck yourself.
Weird, I didn't get any of that stuff. It's mostly designy things and fashion.

I find it funny that the market perception right now is that it's mostly for girls. That must really piss them off. You know, like how MySpace is for black people, porn stars, and musicians.

Google+ is for techies and drunks
Is it just me or does pinterest run really slow?
Also funny - people using pinterest are called "pinners". Is it only in Canada that a thin joint meant to be smoked quickly is called a pinner?
Maybe in your crazy part of Canada.

Yes.
Oh. I guess you guys didn't have oilers either? Smearing hash oil on a cigarette, not the hockey team.

We call them pinners down here too. I've never heard of oilers though.

Seems some people are making a business out of copyright enforcement - even when they're wrong
Maybe this relevant to the conversation regarding content aggegrators/curators - view it as slideshow
Pinterest named after playwright Harold Pinter according to the Daily Mail last paragraph
Lady Antonia Pinter, DBE, says she likes the Pinterest.com website, named after her late husband, playwright Harold Pinter...
That entire paper makes no sense whatsoever.
