I'm going to be selling some (expensive) framed prints and a framed oil painting. Some frames are pretty big - 54"x45". I need to have some great photos that show the art, without glare or distortion. Any good suggestions for lighting, angles, placement etc?
This is a pretty good breakdown. http://mgreerphoto.blogspot.com/2008/06/how-to-photograph-artwork.html
Generally, get even light (of the same type and intensity), on either side of the image roughly 30 degrees kicked in and equidistant. And use a tripod.
Thanks. That's a great link for what I need. I'll have to see if I can rent the lights or if it would be cheaper to take the art to a studio and pay for shots.
My local camera store will rent me all the lighting equipment for only US$50/day. I'll have to get everything set up in advance.
that's a good value added service. It's good to hear that there still are stores prepared to go the extra bit to look after their customers.
