I'm thinking about getting a new DSLR. I've been looking closely at the D5001, but first some backstory.

I have a Nikon N80 and a number of autofocus lenses for it in storage in Colorado, but I don't know exactly what type they were. They would have been the same lens type that originally came with the camera.

I'm a bit concerned that the D5001 doesn't have a built in autofocus motor, and that I need to step up to the D7000 (which has the built in motor).

Does anyone know about this?

The lenses would work fine, except for the autofocus. You'd be manual focus only with them. That may or may not be a deal breaker.

yeah, I guess my question is, if I upgrade to the D7000, will autofocus work on my older lenses?
