Is there any way I can get rid of "In the barrel" under my name and customise? Or do I have to keep takin it in the piehole until I write like 8,000,000 posts? --I know some message boards change the tag after a specific number of posts--how many before mine changes?

Go to user cp then Edit profile you can change it there where it says Custom User Text:

Thanks Suzy. However I don't have that option...
I looked through the edit profile three times and couldn't find it. What options are above and below the "Custom User text" on your screen?
You have to have a certain number of posts or have been registered for a certain amount of time before the option of custom user title is available in your User CP.
I'm not sure what either of them are for sure, though.
30 posts or a month I think

..cos stmoo has tried. 
Now he increases his post count by posting 3 times instead of once.
