wow. That's scary
have to give the fire department mad props for being there in between 5 and 10 minutes. really really nice guys.
wow, that's super scary, glad everyone's alright and it didn't spread...was there water in the wall or something? How did that socket blow?
I'd deliver some good beer or something to the fire house. We've had a few fires at the Roasting Plant and the fire department is there in like 2 minutes. They love us because we send them away with like 20 pounds of coffee (usually not the stuff that caught on fire)
I'm guessing home owner's insurance will take care of the costs of repairing everything? GFI outlets for everyone!!
Holy jeebus!
Hope your town doesn't charge you $400 for a fireman visit.
Wow, that sucks! But glad the fire crew got it under control quickly. That IS much more exciting than my Saturday night was.

Holy Cow! glad you are okay.

Free enterprise at work!
I'm surprised you didn't turn those lazy government bureaucrats away at the door.
Glad everyone is ok, and the house will survive.
Good work, Fire department.
well its all cleaned up as best as we can for now. have a few more bags of stuff to take to the street for trash pick up tomorrow.
now i just need to track down which fire stations responded so i can take some beer, etc over to say thank you. the guys didn't even harm the fucking hardwoods. how the fuck do you do that?
Glad you are alright, very scary!

your's was more exciting than my saturday night as well.
Wow. I had a house fire many years back. It was no fun at all.
Looks like they saved you from most of the bad damage.
:( Sorry man. I hope it gets repaired soon and with little stress.
honestly it really wasn't nearly as scary as i would have expected. i think that boiled down mostly to the fact that there were 3 of us, only the the wife went into panic (due largely to the address issue and the fact the house was on fire), and the extreme professionalism of the firefighters.
we didn't sleep much last night (half the house was too smokey to inhabit) but everything is cleaned up and at the street now. the company that will handle it via insurance has already called me back in under 6 hours since selecting them. i think the only issue i'm faced with right now is that the wife and i were to head to jackson hole a week from yesterday. however the roomie doesn't have a job yet so depending on how this week shakes out, he might be able to handle the day to day here while we are gone.
gotta call an electrician tomorrow to come out and check all the outlets, switches, etc and get a quote on upgrading the breaker box.
last night it was interesting as the roomie asked me if i was doing ok and i responded that this wasn't the worst thing to happen to me in my life. he looked at me puzzled and i said, "well given the circumstances and events around my divorce, the shit that's happened with my brother, having everything but my camera stole on a trip to europe, this is nothing. its a fucking house and it can be repaired."
however last night was about as close to sleeping in a tent by a camp fire i've ever been inside. i will say that there was a part of me that as the events unfolded wanted to take photos, etc the moment it popped into my mind i told myself what a fucking stupid idea that would be. i guess that means i'm like old or some shit. call 911 is higher on the priority than OMG i have to twatter this!

absolutely. given the call to 911 was around 7:30-8pm last night. hell if we'd gone out to dinner we'd of lost the house.
