I decided I wanted a bigger office so figured I would get my garage converted so I could move my office downstairs instead of the tiny box room I am currently in. I spend most of my life in my office and it was depressing me so wanted something with a better view and much bigger.
Problem was once I got the builders in I kind of got carried away so instead of just having the front half of the garage converted into an office we are now as well:
having all new windows and doors
knocking the bathroom through into the toilet next to it to make one big room upstairs
having our bedroom re plastered and extra insulation
having the outside of the house re rendered
knocking the kitchen through to the back of the garage to make one big room
having under floor heating put in
having a downstairs toilet put in
and all at the same time. My house looks like a bombs hit it and the dust is unbelievable!!
Probably not the best idea while we are all still living in the house and all at the same time.
Me and my bright ideas LOL

That does sound like a lot of work. That's a lot of nice brick! You should save it for your next project.
Sounds like time for an extended trip to somewhere warm.
Repeat after me: "it'll be great when it's finished". Say this to yourself whenever you see the mess. We're four months in now, maybe another month to go -- plus painting of course. Nearly there!
LOL yeah that's what I keep doing
Currently sat here while they are drilling away finishing knocking through downstairs. Good job I've got lots of paracetamol for the headaches!
Try and keep you pc/laptop as dust free as possible (I know - easier said than done) - dust kills computers.
Good point Techno, never thought of that though at the moment my office door is always shut so mine is the one room that is dust free
True story: When I was about 4, my mum & dad decided they wanted a bigger kitchen..... at 10pm one night.
Suffice it to say I woke up the next morning to a pile of rubble in the hallway, and a building site for a kitchen. To this day I do not know how my dad managed to take down a largeish wall without waking up me or my 2 sisters.
LOL That's class

Reminds of a story that my mother-in-law likes to (re)tell about her friend who wanted a fireplace in her living room. Whilst her husband was at work she takes a sledgehammer to the wall where she wants the fireplace and proceeds to create a 4' diameter hole in it. The only problem being it was the main interior structural wall. Fortunately the house didn't come tumbling down.
