Anyone know i get Dreamweaver to stop putting those in my work.. it's annoying. Every 5 mins i have to go back and manually delete them. I know they are useful but in vB they show up :(

try going "view> table view > standard view" and see if that fixes it. That's for MX, I don't know if 4 or ultra dev are similar.

I think you may be stuck with them if you build in layout view.

I could be totally wrong.

Are you starting your page from an 'HTML Template' option in DW??? Is it MX?

yup it's MX... and yup it's a new page. I paste things in and it adds those most annoying tags.. aaaagh!

So when you choose new, are you choosing 'template' or just plain HTML (cos mine does not do that).

it's a library item... but when ever i create a table in layout view, this is what i get:

<!--DWLayoutTable-->

(hope they show up)

in vB ' <!--DWLayoutTable-->' tags show up as empty boxes...

Sorry mate, I have been trying to recreate it for you, but I cannot get the comments you are.

I know if you choose HTML Template as a new document type, DW adds its own comments to the HTML, but I cannot recreate the one you are getting.

Soz.

Could be a template comment or a comment from an extension maybe? either way, you can remove them easily enough. I don't think you can make a template without creating DW comments, since those are used to keep track of what is template and what isn't.

i think DW needs those tags if you are working in layout mode, to display the layout. try creating a table in layout and add a couple of cells. then go back to standard mode, delete those tags and then go back to layout mode. your cells aren't editable anymore. you can change the size of the table, but you can't change the size of cells you created in layout mode.

I'm sick of those annoying tags, so for this project i've ditched DWMX for Notepad style editing in the form of BBEdit v7.x.

No more MM tags. k
