Any folks know of some good examples of work done messing with BitmapData? Bit's book has a couple of great chapters, but anything else would be great. Thanks!
// edit: For example... Up to now I've been handling transitions between bitmaps via alpha crossfades, blurs, levels, etc. What I would really like is the freedom of handling the transitions at the pixel level.
getPixel and setPixel are a bit slow unless pre-process , gradient alpha masks and filters (ask bit about that new tool!), also drawing api on a mask, you may need to look at using Movies within movies and cacheAsBitmap for masks to work. I have a reflection class if you need gradient alpha mask examples, but you prob already tried?
hey baron. i've got a couple of experiments on my site, although the source is just dirty experimental, but maybe it'll help. this one is particularly fun as it uses your webcam: HOT XXX SQUID PORN
Clicking to allow Flash to use my camera crashed Firefox 3.0.3 3 times!
Then I realised, my camera is not connected to the machine I was looking at...
haha that's great! although that's not great... i think probably the god of bitmapdata must surely be mario klingemann of quasimondo.com, but there are so many others. didn't arsis do all that good stuff with the seeding in one of the posts here? and then grant skinner had some great things on his experimental site turning people into flaming burning things - source at ultrashock as far as i remember.

Grant also did a drum machine type thing where he compared the contrast of the pixels allowing the whiteness of his hands to play MCs on the stage as drums. That was all bitmapData as well.
Hey-hey, thanks all! Super helpful and much appreciated!
