Not really sure how to describe this - I'm trying to find a font where the descender on the letters like y and j are not cup shaped but convex curving back up to the rest of the letter form.

Kinda like thishttp://www.dafont.com/luismi-murder.font?nb_ppp=50&text=jy but not so script/handwritten - more accentuated and sharper.

Any clues from our resident font gurus?

It's a bit out of the norm, certainly I could modify/create a typeface to do that. But I don't know if you'll find one out of the box that had it...

I thought I may have seen something similar in a celtic type face but have had no joy in my searches - so could well be wrong.

I've certainly seen it handwritten (as in real-life) and was hoping that there might be a similar font - or at least a font close enough in style for me to modify it.

I'm not even sure of the correct term to try and search for.

hmm.. I can't find a particular term that would deal with that (reversed descender?)

I did find one part of a graffiti typeface that was in that style - but the rest of the face was utter crap.

I'm thinking, if you can find a face that's close otherwise (e.g. Univers, or another clean face - I'm not sure of your idea for the general body style) - I can create new descenders and try mapping a face for you.

Or if you just need a headline/logo treatment, I can build that out.

It's for a logotype - I was looking for a solid base to start from rather than building from scratch. Not to worry, just have to break that pen tool out and spend a bit more time on it.

I vaguely recall some kind of decorative font along those lines, maybe some kind of slab sans based on handwriting or some kind of retro signage or something, but that's all I got. Sorry.
