I presented a logo to a client, and while they're happy with the concept, they want a couple of tweaks. - more Blues, and green. Not everyone is convinced about the unfinished circle.

The original is at the top. http://www.guerilla.co.za/stuff/jans.jpg

Any comments / feedback?

I quite like the unfinished circle, although your biggest problem is going to be how it displays at smaller sizes (I learned this the hard way on the last logo I built). Those little shapes on the mountain will blend together and look muddy when downsized, I think the mountain graphic may need to be simplified somewhat.

I also prefer the thinner fonts on "NATIONALE FONDS".

Is that a particular mountain that is important to the brand? I prefer the original, but the mountain shapes can blur a bit, and even look like a face, rather than a mountain. Some adjustments there are probably in order.

Yes the mountain is quite important, it's closely tied with the town.

good point, particularly for finishing the piece, for the initial sequence of variations, my eye is drawn to the bottom one...

I think everyone likes the unfinished circle.

Can I ask why you've gone three colours on this? (I'm guessing the greens are tones and not separate colours and the 'Fonds' is a black tone.)

From a strictly design perspective I prefer the relative weight of the elements in the first one the best.

2 looks like a garment label, 3 looks like a poorly drawn globe.

I took a messy fast stab at it... kept the first version, made the sky blue, aligned the icon to the subscript, aligned the subscript and icon to the "A" in "JAN", eliminated that ligature, re-kerned the text...

So... what happened?

I really like the first, 2-color graphic best (excluding any font issues)

Mm, yes I love it!!

You know, how about this? maybe the mountain is a bit too mountainey. Can you take out a couple of the jaggedy bits and um, yeah maybe blue the sky up a bit more and then it will be perf... actually what about Helvetica for the font? I hear it's having a bit of a comeback, Retro Nerd Chic is IN! Actually, what do people think about bunnies? Maybe bunnies instead of a mountain? and we can change the name of the company to Het Jan Bunnies, you know, to improve our appeal to women? And bunnies. You know what? I think we need a rethink on the whole thing, yes, let's get lattes and have a think.
