I recently moved company and have had to revisit old skills, I use the word skills loosely! I havent been developing in ages so had to re-aquaint myself with vb.net while working on a project I was given. Now I have been asked to develop a sharepoint site. The company have WSS 3.0 on a server but it hasnt really been used.
I have Visual Studio 2010 but believe i may need to download Sharepoint Designer 2007 to get anything done. Anyway , starting from the very beginning with sharepoint and need to fast-track my skills.
can anyone suggest any good reading on this? Books/Blogs etc
Cheers
Chase up Stmoo - I think he is/was our resident sharepoint expert.
Yeah when I used it Stmoo helped me out.
Oooooooooo you are in for a world of pain.
Sharepoint is not much fun.
(Not that I have a huge amount of experience, thank god)
From the small amount I have read it looks like creating an aspx site with master files, but using extra pre-designated content areas. I may be naively optimistic though. Hopefully stmoo will see this and have a few recommendations then.
Setting up SP Foundation 2010 was pretty easy for the basics. I have the OOTB site up. I am just finding code info hard to find. Loads of unanswered questions on that side of things. It isnt impossible to make it look OK using WYSIWYG but thats kinda crappy..
You might check Sharepoint-related questions over on StackOverflow. Might be a good resource too, if you get stuck on a particular task/detail.
