I've been using Leech FTP for years but it is really starting to let me down lately and to say I FTP every single day I think I really need a better program. Don't mind paying for it but just wondered what would be best as there are so many out there. With Leech FTP you can't delete a folder unless you delete it's contents which can be really time consuming, is this the same for them all? Plus it says it's uploaded the full file when a lot of the time it hasn't. What does anyone recommend? Thanks, Suzy k

I think most ftp won't allow you to delete folders with files in it. I've been using WSFTP for the last 13 years. No installs required, so it's great to setup a backup schedule to a flashdrive, so that I always have a backup whereever I go.

Filezilla is free and works ok for me, not that I FTP much.

Don't ask Stinky for a recommendation whatever you do k

Filezilla has a recursive delete, so it will delete all the files within a folder and then the folder itself.

It works pretty well for me, only irritation is that it gets updates quite often - but then wants to dedicate its entire existence to downloading the update instead of doing that while concurrently uploading the files I want uploaded!

That's a minor irritation, though.

Thanks all k Can I just ask, with either one of those can you export all your bookmarks (site FTP settings) and save them to import back in? It really bugs me if I get a new computer having to set up all my FTP details again as I have about 50 websites I look after.

http://fireftp.mozdev.org/

and yes, you can export your accounts easily. Under this directory: C:\Documents and Settings[user]\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles[profile] there is a file fireFTPsites.dat that contains the user data and a file fireFTPprograms.dat that has all the external program data to use.

I also use Filezilla and yes, you can export/import.
