I was uploading a phpnuke site yesterday, and Dreamweaver consistently ignored any "hidden" files beginning with a dot (specifically .htaccess files). After an hour of frustration, I used SmartFTP and everything went up as planned.

I looked through the help files, and couldn't figure out how to get it to not ignore hidden files. Has anyone done this and could explain it to me? It's got to be some simple thing, right?

i think the simple solution was SmartFTP.

k

i haven't used dreamweaver in ages, but with the integration of Homesite (and syntax completion for php, asp, etc etc) i have been very very tempted to check it out.

Dreamweaver FTP & HTTP wont upload. I thought this was the top of the line in web design & publishing software? I had to use Frontpage FTP program to upload the files, (which works great and is very user friendly) now dreamweaver sees the files on the local drive and connects to the site and does nothing but varoom it's engines. Is there a better Web Design Program out there? Dreamweaver sucks!

I'm not sure what you're trying to prove by posting the same quote 3x. You won't get much of a response acting like a spoilt kid. What version of DW are you using? MClarky had a good simple solution - use your windows file explorer to upload files to your server. You can drag/drop, cut/paste. It's simple and easy.

So the better solution is to open up Frontpage?

Beware - by opening up anything in Frontpage you run the risk of frontpage infecting everything with its own code. Its infection skills are so strong that it could even infect your mother with silly code through the internets.

Next time you even think of opening frontpage just imagine what would happen if your mother had frontpages retarded baby.

Think of the kids.

The drag & drop from file explorer is a pretty failsafe method. Although there are a few annoying extra steps involved since IE6. Failing that try CuteFTP or something similiar.

Ive never used the DW FTP tool, but I assume it cant be much different from the Homesite 4 tool, in which case you are better off just downloading smartFTP, CuteFTP etc.
