Yes or no?

i'm looking for a CMS to rapidly develop a site somewhat likehttp://www.which.co.uk/ - multiple "plugin" type things like forums, polls, galleries etc - which I do not want to code individually.

The site design is fairly generic and suited to templating.. and I am a C#.NET nerd. But I've never used DotNetNuke, so before I jump in too far, what is it like? Easy? Hard? Pile of dogshit?

The only 'experience' I have had with it is through a company I'm contracting for, which has been using a system provided by a third party that's based on it. They claim it's slow and unstable -- it crashes fairly regularly (as in, every few days) but from what I can tell the system has been hacked fairly extensively so it could be the fault of the third-party provider rather than DotNetNuke itself.

Did you try going to http://aspx.opensourcecms.com/ ?

You can test out any of the CMS solutions on there before you start working. Unfortunately, I only have experience in PHP systems so i can't recommend anything for .NET

Thanks.

Open Source CMS was my first port of call - but the trial versions can only give a little glimpse into the systems, whereas I am embarking on a large complicated project.

Hopefully not too much hacking required though - hacking other people's code is the worst form of entertainment.

Sorry, you must be a member to post to a conversation. Either log in or sign up to get involved.
