I created Andy in Flash years ago and have used him on a ton of stuff. Thought I'd play with giving him a 3D makeover.
That's pretty frickin' awesome clarky.

now all you need to do is make him dance
nice translation, emcee.
awww he's cute. am diggin' the droopy antennae
NICE!

Thanks guys.
A few frames from something I'm noodling about with, which doesn't really deserve its own thread.

And, since those evoked such an overwhelming response, here's a couple more:

All very much works in progress...
I for one am glad fire extinguishers work in space.
Awesome texture and shader choices. nice work Mark.
Nice job Mc. Whatch tool are ya using?
Thanks, all.
For this, I'm currently using modo 401. Not sure if its animation capabilities will suffice, tho, so I may have to move everything over to Lightwave or elsewhere.
Couple more tests:

how did you come across this modo stuff?
Looks like some cool toolage.
Fun stuff? Are you modelling this stuff, or assembling?
You know, I can't actually remember how I first came across it. It is made by some of the key people behind Lightwave, which I've been using for years, and somehow I wrangled a review of it at a magazine.
I am modeling everything from scratch.

I
space.
Not knowing much about 3D, I think it kicks ass that you are able to produce these in the Comfort of Your Own Home (tm).

definitely worth strutting around the house about!
Star Wars wasn't created in a day either.
When's the big release date?
Estimated for the 12th of Never.
When I get bored I either have a drink, play some video games, or jack off. Clearly your choices are more productive. Nice looking stuff thar.
MC, you're at least going to make it into a portfolio trailer, one that you can use to get a job with? I'd hate to see something as good as what it is just be left for the cobwebs.
Looks great Mark. Glad to see you are still using Modo. Love the Suspended Animation chambers.
What are your complaints about the animation side...or is it just straight render times? I haven't even dabbled into that area of the software yet.

The rigging and animation isn't really very sophisticated. So, when it comes to character animation - even robot character animation - I may feel compelled to go elsewhere.

Because they can't _all _be spaceships.
Looks cool Mark! Love the bowl texture. I like the DOF - maybe the spec is a bit high on the shells, but perhaps they have shinier chickens in KS
This still Modo? It's becoming my modeling package of choice. The lack of hard surface real word dimensioning in the 30x series is still frustrating me - I haven't upgraded to the 40x series, and at this point, think I'm waiting for the 50x series - Brad has eluded to it being released this year on the forums. For now I can wait.
Nice render - keep at it.

ps - Saw your AE study with the missile launch - very impressive work!
