I took a bunch of photos today for setsubun, the day the demons come and eventually leave with all your bad luck from the previous year, We have 6 foreign teachers, so the 3 from the 5th floor dress up as demons and scare the shit out of the kids whilst getting pelted with beans and vice versa. It's strange yet enormously entertaining and is overly encouraged by the parents.

So when I wasn't a demon I was snapping some shots. Everyone was bugging me to upload the photos but they were all RAW and our version of PS didn't support Sony's new format but I tried anyways. I have had problems in the past trying transfer files with an SD card at work going from Mac to PC at work but it never fucked up the card just wouldn't read it and I figured since I formatted this card in camera it should work on both. I was mistaken. It worked flawlessly on my Mac for 4 months and then I plug it into a pc and it reads it but it's all these weird files with the extension .ddd. I thought strange but I still had the problem of how do I transfer gigabytes of files from home to work. So I thought if this computer can read it, why not create a folder to put all the files I want to transfer into. And there lies my mistake. Now the card when inserted into my camera or my home computer asks to format as soon as it is inserted. I just tried DAta Rescue and it recovered all my movie files which are some obscure sony format but nothing on the photos. I discovered an IQ feature that can teach it new file types so I taught it .ARW Sony's RAW format and hopefully it fins them on this second pass through.

Jesus though what a shit show to try and use something multiplatform. Something as simple as creating a folder, completely empty just the folder, will completely fuck the card. Yea I shouldn't have been playing around but I really wasn't doing anything so severe.

Data Rescue(that program is awesome) recovered most of the files, run a deeper scan tomorrow and hopefully I can get them all back cause they are pretty hilarious.

Every kid should be that scared. Regularly!
