I participated in the last one, in about 2007 (I think)

Since then many have moved on to new countries with new possibilities; many new people have joined and many ex- WH refugees have been accommodated in our holding area.

So, is anyone keen? Not necessarily only candy (although, she told me she doesn't mind a bit of 'swapping' wink-wink-nudge-nudge) but maybe inexpensive yet distinctive objects/food that represent what you like about your area?

I will organise the list of who to send to - if more than 2 people are interested.

[Edit]

So far the more positive responses:

arigato - Eastern Canada Big Ern - Northern UK Chelle - East Coast US daddybunchie - Melbourne, Australia DontBogartMe - Spain Jessica - ?? Kirra - Kansas Media44 - ?? ricebus - Japan RobotDeathSquad - ?? scudsucker - South Africa Stickman - UK Techno - France Your Mom - Some godforsaken wasteland

EDIT - 2010-09-16:

Forgoing VB Macros in Excel, I instead divided the names by region (US/CA, EU, Rest of world) and wrote names on pieces of paper, distributed into three cups. Then for each region I drew a name, and one each from another region to which that person was to send.

I tried to set it up so that you would not be sending to someone from whom you would be receiving.

As I didn't have Jessica, M44 or RDS's region they were randomised. Also, as the numbers were not conducive to equal send/receive, I've volunteered to send 2 extra (and receive 2 extra. The slots with a * are the ones that were empty after the draw) If we get 1 more person I'll forgo these in favour of more variety.

Below the results. Please P.M. me if you have issues, if not, please P.M. the people to whom you are sending to ask for addresses, and the people from whom you are receiving to supply your own address.

It is the 16th of September today. Let's give sometime to gather the (cheap) specialities of our region & send by 16th of November.

Chelle's suggestion that you refresh the page after each PM is sent seems to work, though.

I've got maple syrup with your fuckers'ss names on it ... but ari's would probably be better.

I'd send you raw beef, but it'll be rotting when it gets there.

I have nothing intelligent to add.

I'll be in from Spain, anyone up for a bag of fried pig's lips? Probably wouldn't travel too well.

I'll send someone Gator Jerky if I can track a vendor down, not really sold in stores. Other gator forms are easier to come by but they wouldn't ship.

Regional delicacies here are foie-gras, armagnac, plums, apricots, black-pudding.

The foie-gras and armagnac would probably travel ok - but I can barely afford to buy the stuff for myself.

Not sure about candy/sweets/bon-bons - there maybe something local/French that I can find - but most of the stuff is haribo chews.

Wrong time of year for maple candy... anybody want Greek candy? Lots of Greeks in this neighbourhood. Or I could send the standard Quebec/Canadian fare - Coffee Crisps, Smarties, Sloche gummis, that kind of thing. As far as I'm concerned the Japanese and the English have the best candies & potato chip flavours overall. Far as potato chips are concerned, anyone else have Miss Vickie's? They're actually from Montreal but I don't know if they're distributed outside of Canada, and they do have some awesome flavours.

Will remember not to send chocolate to either Japan or California as they arrived as mushy lumps last time.

10 lbs of Brighton rock this time.

I WANT COFFEE CRISPS!!! k

We have Miss Vickie's in California.

I don't think there's anything I can really send. It's all the same fare you can get in Soviet Canuckistan and in Mother Europe anyway. I don't even think we have California Raisins anymore. Those lil bastards aren't on TV anymore so I think they died.

I'd be game. I can send better coffee than the shit from Seattle. I can also send beer, if it's not international. And I could send other cool things from portland.

I'm so in! The last swap I did was clothing clothing earlier this year and I never got anything back :( However, the last 12s candy swap was lots of fun and I ate heartily of foreign sweets.

I wonder if the TimTams you can now get here are the same as the ones you could only get in Australia?

Similarly, there's a lot of candy you can get in the UK that is the same brand as here but the UK chocolate is about a billion times better.

I think Jess should be banned from the candy exchange for speaking ill of nutella and ruining my childhood memories.

Maybe everything tastes the same but you THINK it's better because you're on vacation when you taste it.
