If you want to get up to speed on PV3D, noticed there is some training mentioned on the mailing list in Amsterdam 450 euros with Ralph Hauwert.
Sweet. I wish I had budget to go to that.
also.. FITC Amsterdam is going to rock and there will be some solid PV3D and Red5 sessions as well.
FITC when's that I know FOTB is not so far away I am yet to go to one of these things they have always seemed so expensive, but since I can write them off as a company holiday it is sounding like more of an idea. Trouble is I am not doing flash at mo and not sure I will get time off from contract, but I am sorely tempted to get my as3 up to speed and go on the pv one, but can you really learn much in such short time?
I booked for the papervision course, never been on a flash course before, and never been to Amdam before - kind of scary!
sweet... just remember that you after entering into the country you now have to wait three days before you can purchase magic mushrooms... so make sure to get there early. Am curious to see how the sessions go.... teaching is an absolute bitch so could only imagine how difficult it would be to teach something like PV.
once I help a friend find mushrooms in my 6 form, I couldn't see the difference between the poison ones, never tried them, booked to get there saturday, so I guess I could try them wednesday after all that intense 3d. Not sure how the papervision mailing list would respond if I posted "Are u going on the pv amdam and want to get stoned laid and thoroughly drunk before the course" but I am not sure how I would fair doing the redlight on my own, but I hear the is more to it than stag dos.
I'm in amsterdam on the 8th, and speaking at an adobe event on the 9th (I head home earlyish).... I'm probably working on the presentation on the evening of the 8th, but if by some miracle I'm done and you're up for a joint (or a beer) we could meet up... I'd much rather be doing the PV training than my thing
what are you speaking about? links?
I'm giving an introduction to AS3, it's meant to be an intro for "designer types". Apparently Aral Balkan cancelled, and as a last resort they contacted me
http://events.adobe.co.uk/events/cgi/event.cgi?eventid=5906&country=uk&#datesAndLocations
That's the link for the belgian version, that's in Brussels on the 10th... This weekend is gonna be pretty busy...
Darn that is a bit short notice I have a flight back to uk wednesday afternoon and I am not on enough to jet set around, I think there might still be the odd ticket for the papervision Sakri if your interested.
wait, JLM, you are in amsterdam on the 8th, I'm there on the 8th, if allah permits and my preparations are done, the evening of the 8th sounds like the stars might align
I can't do the PV training... I'm busy giving the adobe training
Does your allah allow you to drink?
Yer sounds like there will be lots of stars, but I am a just a small moon - er.
I get there saturday afternoon and leave wednesday evening, I have not booked a place to stay do you have suggestions, I am just lazy at sorting it, prob get a rough guide tomorrow.
8th sounds good might need to fit with the papervision lot, I have no idea how these courses go but I am going to put everything as expenses and treat it as a learning hol.
Sakri, sounds like a fun couple of sessions. I don't envy your situation... traning sessions are a bitch to write and run. Best of luck.
Arsis
I emailed you at snepo some fb on the pv course, hopefully it is usefull.
Sakri
Ment to upload the picture of our meet last night but was too lazy to hook the mobile up with the mac and slept most of the evening.
How did the rest of the course go?
My presentations went ok'ish... I got away with very little preparation, oddly, the dutch crowd was much more into my jokes, asked questions and wanted to chat, whereas my homecrowd in brussels was silent?!
anyway.... where's the pic? I'm gonna post a new thread called "twelvestone mini reuinion in amsterdam!"
ok'ish? doesn't sound good. It's hard when it's a one way process.
Yah.. thanx Justin, haven't had a chance (brain space) to read and absorb your comments just yet though they are muchly appreciated.
I'm actually going to be in Amsterdam on the 26th... shame couldn't have timed it a little earlier.
damn, you're gonna be in amsterdam?!
It's my dads 60th birthday on the 26th so it's a nogo by default, but damn, I would love to meet up with the mighty arsis...
...and the ok'ish, I'm prolly just being hard on myself, according to Peter El5t "sakri nailed it" peterelst.com/blog/2007/10/10/beyond-boundaries-brussels/ which was reassuring
I just wished I would have had more time to prepare...
what are you doing in amsterdam?
stopping over on my way to Bath for a meeting to lock in a couple of projects. If all goes well I'll probably be making a couple more trips over the next few months and will probably spend a little more time in the Dam.
sweet write up. obviously more than ok'ish
It might sound strange but I’ve found introductory sessions are some of the most difficult ones to do
:trees:
Arsis - your in Bath UK soon??
at mo I am staying at my mums just outside,
not really any space to put anyone up at her house but would be up for a drink in town, her house is just off the pic to the left.
ya cool. I'm staying at the RealWorld studios from Monday 22nd thru Thursday 25th. I don't know where that is in context to the pic nor will have my own transport but am definately keen to try and wing it for a beer or two.
Oh box - guess that would be Peter Gabriel's place, it is about the same distance from town as my place, but I could drive over one evening and take you into town get some food and go for a couple of beers, I don't really know all the good places as I am a bit out of touch, but the Bell might be good, it tends to have an interesting mix of people a quick google suggests they have some live bands on that week http://www.walcotstreet.com/
Mon 22 Chicago Music Explosion presents: Banooba (NYC) Groove/rock with jazzyfunky leanings regularly compared to Steely Dan, AWB & the Allmans. Curly & The Rocket (Washington DC) Electric m/f power duo, putting the MF into m/f, for sure. Bluesy country rock straight from the source.
Wed 24 Jim Blomfield’s Latin Perspective Jim is arguably both the best jazz pianist and the best latin pianist in Bristol, so combining the two (with a stellar collective of Bristol faces) had to happen! Jazz faves latin-ised and some of Jim’s own tunes with a groove too.
[note to self - Latin jazz - sounds interesting (salsa leanings) ]
must admit I do not rem it as a jazzy place tends to be lively at weekends
